1. 4 Types of Diabetes.
What is diabetes? Diabetes mellitus is a chronic, polygenic (genetically
inherited) disease that is characterized by high blood sugar levels. When a
person has diabetes, the body is also unable to appropriately respond to
insulin, or may not be able to produce the hormone at all.
3. Also known as juvenile diabetes, type 1 diabetes is an autoimmune disorder marked by the bodys immune system fighting against the cells in the pancreas which produce insulin. As a result, it becomes difficult for the body to produce insulin. This type of diabetes usually occurs during adolescence, typically before the individual reaches 20 years of age. Type 2 diabetes. Type 2 diabetes is the most common type of diabetes.
2. This
insulin-sensitivity or deficiency leads to an abnormal metabolism of
carbohydrates in the body, resulting in high blood sugar (glucose) levels.
Because insulin plays a vital role in the absorption of glucose in the body and
in its expenditure, the instability in the function of this hormone is what
causes the various symptoms of diabetes. Types of diabetes. There are two major
types of diabetes and although other forms exist, the two main forms are
responsible for majority of all diabetes-related deaths. Type 1 diabetes.

4. This type of diabetes
is typically caused by a sensitivity or resistance to insulin in the body. It
happens when the body produces insulin, but there is a wrong response to the
hormone. Over time, the body may stop producing insulin as the hormone
receptors break down. Basically, type 2 diabetes is caused by hyperglycemia, or
a condition of high blood sugar. Other forms of diabetes are prediabetes and
gestational diabetes which majorly affects pregnant women. In our next video,
we will examine common symptoms of diabetes.
